SWAN CREEK DISTRICT Internet Policy

The purpose of the Swan Creek District Internet Website is to:

· Promote the exchange of information among the Scouts and Scouters of Swan Creek District,

· Market Scouting to the local community, including links to units within the District,

· Enhance the mission to the community by promoting the program, aims and methods of the Boy Scouts of America, and to

· Ultimately encourage a conservation of our resources by minimizing our use of paper publications & handouts.

While not every unit or member of the District has access to the Internet and this site, one of our goals is to provide more timely updates of information and as a supplement to meetings such as Roundtables, forms and information that can be downloaded or printed off for local use as desired or needed by the units and members at their convenience.

Oversight—The Swan Creek District Website will be maintained by a single Webmaster and is subject to review and approval by the District Chairman, District Commissioner and District Scout Executive.  Inputs can be provided by any member of the District, but may not be used based on site availability or content.  All correspondence regarding the site such as suggestions or comments will be shared with these same people with the intention of continually improving the site and it’s goals.  Units may have specific information related to them and/or their activities posted on this site with the intention of advertising their efforts or programs as they reflect the best interests of the District and the Scouting program as a whole.

Content—All documents, illustrations, photographs and linked material must conform to the principles, policies and traditions of the Boys Scouts of America, the Swan Creek District and a unit’s Chartering Organization.  All unit web pages will be reviewed for content and for being active on a periodic basis and any link to it will be discontinued upon failure to meet these expectations.  Links to other sites will also be reviewed for their promotion of Scouting and Scouting related activities and will be added or removed based on the periodic reviews.
